Delightful Calamities: Adult Conversations about Parents and Children

"Delightful Calamities" comes from a poem Alice Walker wrote about her daughter and her writing. In this workshop, local poet and teacher Sarah Burns-Anyieth will lead us in reading a variety of poems about parenthood and childhood. We'll explore the complexities of the child-parent relationship. Using inspiration from writers such as Sandra Cisneros, Fatima Asghar, Hanif Willis Abduraraqib, Danez Smith, Robert Hayden, Edgar Allan Poe, and others, we'll draw from our own experience as children and/or parents.

No previous writing experience needed. All are welcome. Some poems contain "adult conversations."
