Ruth Williams + Marcus Myers Reading

Two Friends and Open Mouth Reading Series are teaming up to bring a series of writers to Bentonville this December. Join us at Airship Coffee on Dec. 2nd to hear from two Kansas City poets, Ruth Williams and Marcus Myers. 

// Ruth Williams is the author of Flatlands (Black Lawrence Press, 2018), a full-length collection of poetry, as well as a poetry chapbook, Conveyance (Dancing Girl Press, 2012). Her poetry has appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, jubilat, Pleiades, and Third Coast among others. She has also published creative nonfiction in Crab Orchard Review, DIAGRAM, and South Loop Review.

Ruth's scholarly work on women's writing and feminism appears in Tulsa Studies in Women’s Literature, The Journal of Popular Culture, Michigan Feminist Studies, College Literature, and The Writer's Chronicle. In 2011-2012, she was a Fulbright scholar in Seoul, South Korea where she researched U.S.-Korea relations and interviewed Korean women poets Kim Hyesoon, Jeongrye Choi, and Kim Seung-hee.

// Marcus Myers lives in Kansas City, where he works as a founding co-editor of Bear Review, advises gifted & talented high school students, and teaches composition to high school seniors and undergrads. His writing has appeared in or is forthcoming from The Cortland Review, Hunger Mountain, Mid-American Review, The National Poetry Review, Pleiades, The Rumpus, Salt Hill, Tar River Poetry, TYPO, Yes Poetry and elsewhere.

// Open Mouth Reading Series is a community-based poetry series located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, co-curated by poets M. D. Myers, Molly Bess Rector, Peter Mason, and J. Bailey Hutchinson. Check out for upcoming events.
